
A 50-year old Atlantic City woman was found guilty of looting a store in lawless activities that took place May 31 2020 in the city following protests of the killing of George Floyd by police in Minneapolis. According to Atlantic City Police, 57 businesses were damaged in riots around the city and a total of 95 people were charged following investigations and viewing countless hours of footage from security cameras, public and traffic cameras and social media postings showing suspects looting stores. Darleen Garrison was found with a television and a safe behind a Rent-A-Center store and was charged with receiving stolen property and fourth-degree rioting. A jury found her guilty on the looting charge but deadlocked in the decision on the rioting claim according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office. Garrison will face sentencing April 23.
