Black Hawk College Graduate and Author of “Follow Me, Friend: A Memoir of Undiagnosed PTSD, and the Healing Power of the Horse-Human Relationship”, Cheryl Eriksen, will be a Black Hawk College East Campus for a book signing on September 27, 2022, at 7 PM. The community is invited to the book signing, which will be held in the Library in Building A. Cheryl Eriksen graduated from Black Hawk College in 1998 and worked as a veterinary assistant for the late Dr. Schwerbrock. Cheryl also trained and showed the APHA circuit for local horseman, Danny Conner. Cheryl left Illinois in 2002 and worked in multiple areas of the horse industry including working as a horse midwife for the world-renowned Claiborne Farm in Paris, Kentucky. Cheryl returned to school in 2009 and earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in social work with an emphasis on equine-assisted therapy. Cheryl Eriksen is an author and speaker on equine behavior and communication specialist focusing on the horse-human relationship. She also works seasonally as a horse mid-wife for multiple thoroughbred farms in Kentucky. “Follow Me, Friend” is a memoir of living with undiagnosed PTSD from a trauma she had no conscious memory of and how she healed from working with a special horse.
