The first workshop is next Thursday, September 1st,  at 5:30 p.m. at Bethel Reformed Church, Sterling. The theme is “First Steps and Your Legal Plan”.

Foundation Trustee Sam Meier will be the facilitator for all three sessions – September 1st, October 6th and November 3rd. The second workshop will focus on financial planning. The third workshop will focus on care planning, whether in-home, assisted living or long-term care, plus identifying resources for those on the dementia journey.

The first workshop includes a presentation by Joe Landmichl from the Alzheimer’s Association on “Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia”. There is also a panel of experts who will each speak briefly on their area of expertise.

Topics include basics of legal planning, determining legal capacity, living will, standard will, living trust, guardianship, power of attorney for healthcare, options for care and property, adult protective services, and living with dementia. Questions will be taken from audience members as well.

We will have trained healthcare professionals available to care for loved ones with dementia in another room while attendees take part in the workshop.
