July 18
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SW 2nd Ave for a report involving the theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle.
Officer was dispatched to a residence on NW 1st Street for a welfare check. An unwanted subject was removed from the property.
Officer, along with Stark Co Medic, were dispatched to the 00 block of SW 2nd Street for a male subject that had collapsed on the sidewalk. Officer was not able to locate. A witness said the subject had gotten into a car and left prior to arrival.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 4th Street in reference to a theft complaint. As the result, Crystal Thornton, 42, Galva, was arrested for criminal damage to state supported property and theft under $500.00. She was taken to the Henry Co jail.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 1000 block of SE 2nd Street, Stephanie Snider, 33, Galva, was arrested for driving while license suspended, disobeying a stop sign, and no insurance. She was released with a required court date.
July 19
Officer was dispatched to a disturbance and fireworks complaint in the 700 block of NW 1st Ave.
Officer was dispatched 2x to the 100 block of NW 7th Ave for 9-1-1 hang up calls. The resident was having phone problems.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of NE 4th Ave for a harassment complaint involving social media.
Officer, along with Stark Co Medic, were dispatched to a residence on NE 2nd Street for a suicidal subject. The subject was transported for treatment / evaluation.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 4th Street for an animal neglect complaint. The animal was being cared for by a neighbor while they were out of town.
July 20
Officer assisted Henry Co with attempting to locate subjects involving in a “rolling domestic dispute between Galva and Kewanee.” The vehicle and driver were located in the 00 block of SE 5th Street. The passenger was found in the 100 block of SE 5th Street and was found to be wanted on a warrant from Mercer Co. She was taken to jail by Henry Co. The dispute remains under investigation.
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of SE 6th Ave for a civil stand by while a subject gathered some personal belongings.
Officer was dispatched to the 700 block of NW 1st Ave for a complaint involving a subject that locked their keys inside the car. They were referred to a local locksmith for assistance.
July 21
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of NE 9th Street for a verbal domestic disturbance.
Officer met with a resident at the Galva PD to update their employment status on their violent offender against youth annual registration form.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 600 block of South Center Ave, Lela Hameister, 26, Sheffield, was arrested for operating a vehicle with suspended registration and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was released with a required court date.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 2nd Street for an activated burglar alarm. IT was determined to be a false alarm.
July 22
Officer was dispatched to assist the ambulance with a behavioral health crisis in the 200 block of Exchange Street.
Officer was dispatched to the municipal truck parking lot behind Subway for a report involving the theft of a catalytic converter.
Officer was dispatched to a residence on NE 9th Street for a welfare check. The subject was fine.
Officer was dispatched to a residence on NW 1st Ave for a welfare check. The subject was fine.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 4th Street to remove an unwanted subject.
July 23
Officer was dispatched to the 600 block of North Center Ave for a 9-1-1 hang up call.
Officer, along with the fire dept and Stark Co Medic, were dispatched to the 600 block of NW 1st Street for a fire with black smoke. It was determined to be an illegal burn and the fire was extinguished.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 1200 block of SE 2nd Street, William Gengler, 51, LaSalle, was arrested for operating a vehicle with suspended registration and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released with a required court date.
Officer noticed a gas hose that had been pulled away from the pump in the 1000 block of SE 2nd Street. The owner was contacted for repairs.
Officer was dispatched to the 800 block of NW 1st Ave to investigate a suspicious car parked there. It was determined to be the parent’s vehicle of a resident that lives there.
Officer checked on a suspicious vehicle parked in the 500 block of Industrial Ave. It was an employee working on equipment after-hours.
July 24
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of NE 2nd Ave for a criminal damage to property / trespassing complaint.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 2nd Street for a report involving a found item that was turned over to police.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of James B Young Road for a welfare check on a motorist that was parked there and bleeding. The ambulance also responded.
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of NW 4th Street to check a low hanging utility wire. Neighbors told the officer the wire has been low for several years.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SE 6th Ave to verify a 9-1-1 mis dial call.

July 18
Roger Brown, 25, Milan, was issued a citation for no insurance in the 400 block of West Division Street.
July 21
Melissa McGuire,35, Galva, was issued an administrative warning ticket (AWT) for allowing someone to live in a camper in the 400 block of South Center Ave.
George Johnson, 23, Galva, was issued an administrative warning ticket (AWT) for having unlicensed / junk vehicles on his property in the 100 block of NW 7th Ave.
July 23
Riley Down, 21, Wyoming, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1200 block of SE 2nd Street.
Donald Brose, 37, Cambridge, was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 500 block of NW 1st Ave.
A 17 year old Galva resident was issued an administrative warning ticket (AWT) for operating an unregistered golf cart with no lights on the highway in the 800 block of SE 2nd Street.
July 24
Marie Balice, 51, Kewanee, was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street.
