Illinois Valley Community College is offering classes to help students prepare for college with ‘Get Set for College’ courses, day and night sessions available. Day sessions are from 9 AM to 1 PM from July 31st to August 4th, 2023. Night Sessions are available on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5 PM to 9 PM between August 1st and August 15th.
Get Set is a short-term program providing incoming and current college students an intense burst of support designed to help them adjust to college and thrive once they are on campus. “Readiness for college isn’t just about academics. It’s about knowing the terms, resources and processes. Preparedness for college involves having the right technology skills, knowing how to manage your time and making meaningful connections in college,” said the Director of the Center for Accessibility and Neurodiversity Tina Hardy.
The free program is open to new high school graduates and new or returning adults. “If you are ready for college, great. If you’re ready to go but want some support as you start, Get Set might be for you,” continued Hardy.
Once enrolled at IVCC for the fall semester, students will be paired with mentors who will continue helping them adjust and thrive.
Registration for Get Set is open through mid-July. Further information and registration may be found at ivcc.edu/readysetgo/. For questions, contact Hardy at 815-224-0284 or [email protected].
