IMPACTS
The dangerously cold wind chills of 20 to 30 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 20 to 30 minutes. Wind chill values this low can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Wear appropriate clothing, including dressing in layers, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly.

The Illinois Baseball Coaches Association has unveiled its 2025 All-State Baseball and Softball Teams, recognizing standout athletes from across the state. Among the honorees in baseball, Colson Welgat earned Class 2A Honorable Mention as an infielder. Kewanee High School had a remarkable showing in softball, with pitcher Kalleigh Gale named to the Class 2A Second Team. Joining her, Remy Hicks and Kieryn Abernathy both received Third Team honors as sophomores, while freshman Rylee Blades was recognized for her skills as a catcher and infielder. These selections highlight the talent and dedication of local student-athletes this season.
