The Kewanee Police Department is increasing accountability and business protection with an updated business check policy. According to the Kewanee Police Department, Business Checks are simply that, Police Officers making the rounds to check on the conditions of local businesses. The new Business Check program which businesses can opt-into will include increased documentation of Business Checks through the use of QR codes. According to Deputy Police Chief Stephen Kijanowski “If you choose to participate in this program, the Kewanee Police Department will attach a QR code to your business at your chosen location.  The officer will scan the code and fill out a quick form that will document which officer checked your business as well as the date and time of the check.” There is no cost for businesses that opt-in to this program and any business that does opt-in can request information about business checks at their business at any time.
