Macomb Man Arrested For Mob Action, Aggravated Battery

MACOMB, IL – A Macomb man was arrested Friday evening after allegedly attacking a couple on N. Johnson Street.

According to reports, a man and woman were walking in the 500 block of N. Johnson Street on Friday evening around 9:30 p.m. and were having an argument.

During the course of the argument, Treshawn Howard, a bystander, intervened and a fight ensued. Howard and other possible suspects began beating the arguing couple, with a large speaker box even being used to strike them at one point.  The woman, fearing for her life, used a knife to defend herself and stabbed Howard during the altercation.

Police arrived on scene around 9:48 p.m. to break up the fight. Howard was taken to Macomb District Hospital where he was treated and was released, before being arrested by Macomb Police with charges of Mob Action and Aggravated Battery.

This incident is still under investigation and more arrests are likely.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
