Movie About Grain Entrapment To Be Shown At Bureau Valley

A showing of the first-ever feature film about grain entrapment will be held at Bureau Valley High School this evening.

“Silo” follows a harrowing day in an American farm town.  Disaster strikes when teenager Cody Rose is trapped in a 50-foot-tall grain bin.  Family, neighbors and first responders team up to rescue Cody from drowning in the grain.

The movie was inspired by the Mount Carroll grain bin accident in 2010 that claimed the lives of two young men after they were trapped in a grain bin.  A third man also was trapped but survived the ordeal.  The rescue took nearly 270 first responders 14 hours.

The movie will be shown at 5:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.  Sponsors for the movie are The Shark Farmer, Princeton Firefighters Local 4308, Bureau County Farm Bureau Young Leaders and Bureau Valley FFA.

After the movie, a farmer demonstration by Stateline Farm Rescue is planned at a nearby location.

For reservations, call the Bureau County Farm Bureau at 815-875-6468.
