Beverly J. Harrell, 90, of Kewanee, died Saturday, April 8, 2023, at OSF Saint Luke’s Medical Center. Beverly was born March 1, 1933, in La Harpe, Illinois, the daughter of Gervase “Cappie” R. and Vada F. (Alexander) DeHaven. She attended La Harpe Schools for 11 years. She attended Western High School, Macomb, her senior year; graduating with the class of 1951. She married Leon R. Harrell in Colchester, Illinois on June 29, 1952; he preceded her in death on December 5, 1980.
Beverly is survived by four children, Rodney Harrell, Kewanee, Teresa “Terry” Craig, Galva, Roger Harrell, Kewanee, Dave Harrell, Cottonwood, AZ; two grandchildren, Lee Craig, Steve Craig; three great grandchildren, Dalton (Bella) Thrasher, Chris Craig, Milan Craig; one brother, Harry (Lola) DeHaven, Galesburg; and a brother-in-law, Gene Watson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Howard DeHaven; sister, Carol Watson; and son-in-law, Melvin “Mel” Craig.
Beverly was a homemaker, she enjoyed taking care of her children. She worked at Kresges Dime Store, and the Kewanee Public Hospital part time. Beverly was member of the First Christian Church, Kewanee Historical Society and the La Harpe Historical Society. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She enjoyed country music, counted cross stitch, and embroidery. During her older years she volunteered to do nails at Toulon Rehabilitation and Courtyard Estates, Galva.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, Thursday, April 13, 2023, at First Christian Church. Funeral Services will be at 12:00 pm, Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the church. Pastor Brian Giese and Pastor Nate McCarter, First Christian Church, La Harpe will officiate. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens at a later date. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Kewanee Historical Society or the La Harpe Historical Society.
