Daniel E. Donovan, 78, of Macomb, Illinois passed away at 9:22 pm on Tuesday July 25, 2023 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born March 21, 1945 in Macomb, IL to Francis and Janet (Crowl) Donovan. He married Margaret A. Sullivan on September 18, 1971 in Macomb, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are three children, Mary Beth (Jake) Lowery of Hudson, IL; Carolyn (Jaime) Alvarez of Bloomington, IL; Matthew (Natasha) Donovan of Tampa, FL; six grandchildren, Collin and Donovan Lowery, Aubree and Magdalena Alvarez, Pooja and Rohan Donovan and one brother, Brian Donovan of Macomb, IL.

Dan and Margaret lived in Columbia, Missouri for 20 years before moving back to Macomb. Dan was active in the local business community. He enjoyed his time serving as a Rotarian, a member of the Chamber of Commerce and a Macomb Bomber Booster advocate.

Dan’s family was his priority, and he could always be heard first before you saw him at any event for his children or grandchildren. He never knew a stranger and appreciated the company of good friends. He lived life to the fullest, all while maintaining a sense of humor.

Rosary will be said at 11:30 AM on Monday July 31, 2023 followed by visitation at 12:00 pm with Funeral Mass to begin at 2:00 PM at the St. Paul Catholic Church. Father Adam Stimpson will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Paul Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Paul Church or to the Macomb High School Bomber Booster Club.
