David D. McDaniel, 64, of Macomb, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born on December 14, 1957, in Macomb, IL to Donald D. and Betty A. (Keene) McDaniel. David married Deborah (Findley) Bryan on June 12, 1982 in Macomb.

He is survived by his wife, Deb McDaniel of Macomb, one son David Bryan of Decatur, two grandsons, Will and Josh Bryan of Decatur, mother Betty Cooper, four sisters, Donna (Bill) Pestle of Macomb, Susie (Bryan) Miley of Petersburg, IN, Julie (Dave) Taylor of Otwell, IN, Dana (Myron) VanBebber of Colchester, and one brother, Troy (Christy) Cash of Yates City, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, stepmother Emma McDaniel, and one brother, Jimmy Oakman.

David may have changed your oil or your tires over the years, working at Nickson’s, Walmart, Shell, Qwik Lube, King Seeley, Macomb Auto Parts, and retiring in 2021 from O’Reilly Auto Parts.

David was a social member of the VFW in Macomb, IL. David will be remembered for enjoying many outdoor activities, including hosting at Argyle Lake for many years, a camper at Spring Lake, and supporter of Macomb Speedway. He especially enjoyed going to the Northwoods of Upper Wisconsin to view the fall foliage. He loved to dabble in home gardening, always eager to share his bounty. He was an enthusiastic outdoorsman, enjoying time with family and friends, fishing, camping, hunting, cookouts, and the sweet smell of campfires (as long as the smoke was going the other direction). He was an avid sports fan, following both NASCAR and the Cardinals. He was a long-time bowler with accomplishments such as bowling six 300 games, an 800 series, and getting inducted into the Macomb Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 2003.

Services will be held on Monday, July 18, 2022 at 11:00AM at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home. Rev. Renee Whitaker will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2-4PM on Sunday, July 17 at the funeral home. The celebration of life will be held at the Macomb VFW following the service on Monday. Private burial of ashes will be held at a later date.
