Doris Irene Smith Long, 86, of Macomb passed away at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Wesley Village Healthcare Center in Macomb.

She was born on November 7, 1936 in Avon to James Oliver and Mazie Swise Smith. She first married Jimmie L. Long. He preceded her in 1984. She later married Jerry Mesecher. He passed away in 2019.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Linda (late Jerry) Martin and her siblings, Dorean Underwood, Marvin Smith, Glade Smith and Harry Smith.

Doris is survived by her children, Bill (Cindy) Long of California, Danny Long of Canton, David (Jeanna) Long of Bushnell, Kathy Long of Peoria and Lana (Michael) Georgeff of St. Jacob, Illinois; four grandchildren, Jason Simmons, Andrew Martin, David Alex Long and Brendan Georgeff; one sister, Twilla Marie Ferry of Galesburg; and several step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Doris lived in Bushnell and Good Hope most of her life before living in Macomb the last three years. She worked at Vaughan and Bushnell, Handle and Pack for many years before her retirement and received her Certificate in Nursing. She was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Private family graveside services will be held in the Bushnell Cemetery.
