Within moments of a young child starting a social media account, predators are on the prowl. Members of the Illinois State Police see it all too frequently in cases where predators are tracked and captured, social media accounts for kids attract some of the worst of the worst in the online world. Illinois State Trooper Jason Wilson says that if you are going to allow your child access to the online world and social media, there is only one way to protect them and that is vigilance and access… 

One of the more insidious tactics used by predators is what Trooper Wilson calls Sextortion… 

The bottom line, keep a very close eye on your children online, keep an open line of communication with your kids regarding their online interactions and don't be afraid to involve the authorities because these types of interactions between adults and children online are illegal.
