MACOMB, IL — The Eta Epsilon Chapter of Phi Beta Delta, an International Honor Society, is accepting applications for membership from qualified Western Illinois University faculty, students, alumni and community members until March 2.
In 2009, when the Eta Epsilon chapter of Phi Beta Delta was founded at WIU, the chapter aimed to recognize and encourage high professional, intellectual, academic, and personal achievements in the field of international education. Ten years later, the chapter continues its mission on campus and throughout the Macomb community.
This chapter encourages international programming and promotes the exchange of ideas and information among an interdisciplinary network. Staff, faculty, students and community members are involved in international endeavors such as study abroad, faculty collaborations, guest presenters and international campus events. Efforts also include fundraising and awarding scholarships for student international opportunities, making connections with international organizations and universities, and promoting the international community through presentations, concerts, meetings and other events.
There will be an informational meeting at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13 in the University Union's Algonquin Room.
Student membership is $35 for the first year and $30 thereafter.
