Popular Apprenticeship Program Threatened by New Legislation

A popular apprenticeship program could be abandoned if a new piece of legislation in Springfield passes. According to a spokesperson for the Illinois Associated Builders and Contractors, a bill intended to increase safety provisions for workers at refineries and ethanol production plants also contains a provision requiring a prevailing wage, a provision that would make the apprenctice program too costly to continue.
