The Henry County Farm Bureau is reminding everyone that the next Farm Bureau Market Outlook Seminar is set for September 16th at 6:15 Pm at Lavender Crest Winery. Brian Basting will be the featured speaker on the night and reservations need to be made by September 9th if you plan to attend.
Brian Basting, Economist with Advance Trading, will be the featured speaker on Thursday, September 16 at 6:15 p.m. at Lavender Crest Winery, 5401 US Highway 6, Colona. Dinner will be served followed by an update from a local grain merchandiser. Reservations are required and must made by September 9 to guarantee your attendance.
Brian Basting was born and raised in Bloomington, Illinois on a grain and livestock farm. He earned both a Bachelor and Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Illinois. Prior to joining Advance, he worked for a farmer advisory service based in Wisconsin. He currently is an economist responsible for wheat market fundamentals and domestic grain consumption trends assisting in feed grains and soybean analysis. He assists in the preparation of a weekly fundamental review of commodities for clients and brokers. He also writes a weekly summary of fundamental market developments and the importance of implementing disciplined risk management strategies.
Brian has also been a featured guest on a number of national media television outlets. These include U.S. Farm Report, Ag Day and This Week in Agribusiness. He has also participated in press briefings at the Chicago Board of Trade and for the Minneapolis Grain Exchange following the release of monthly USDA Supply/Demand reports. Brian also provides periodic market updates for several radio stations and wire service providers and has been interviewed by various newspapers and magazines. He has also been invited to speak twice at the Australia Grain Marketing Conference.
