On Saturday, June 3rd, Whiteside County Deputies responded to a single vehicle traffic crash on Illinois Rt 40 north of Fulfs Road in rural Sterling at 5:20am, for a single vehicle which struck a tree.

Deputies arrived on scene and the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames after striking a tree. The male driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Sterling Fire Department, CGH Ambulance and Whiteside County Coroner Joe McDonald. No name is being released at this time , more details will be available later today.
