Next Monday, March 2nd, is set to be a very long day for State Representative Dan Swanson. That's the day that Representative Swanson will host three separate meetings across the district regarding farmland assessment.
Farmland owners and managers are encouraged to attend the meetings to get more information about why farmland assessments have gone up this year. And while assessments are the main purpose behind the meetings, Representative Swanson says the meetings are also an opportunity to talk to the farm community about other important issues…
The meetings will feature special presentations by Brenda Matherly, Director of Local Government Affairs with the Illinois Farm Bureau, and will give attendees a better understanding on how farmland assessments are calculated and the long-term impact of those values.
