Tame Impala earns career-high ‘Billboard’ 200 debut with ‘The Slow Rush’

Tame Impala has made a career-high debut on the Billboard 200 with the Australian act’s latest album, The Slow Rush.

The fourth studio effort from Kevin Parker‘s psych-rock project — and the first since 2015’s Currents — starts at number three on the Billboard 200 with a total of 110,000 equivalent album units sold in its first week, 80,000 of which were traditional album sales.

Not only is The Slow Rush the highest-charting album in Tame Impala’s discography, besting Currents’ debut at number four, its debut also gives Parker and company their best sales week in their career.

The Slow Rush, which was released on Valentine’s Day, features the single “Lost in Yesterday.” Tame Impala will play a batch of California shows in March to support the new record, followed by a full North American tour beginning in May.
