The Double-Decker bridge on Interstate 229, along the west side of St. Joseph will close from 7 a.m. Monday, August 22, through the afternoon of Friday, August 26 for a bridge inspection.  The bridge is closing completely for the safety of both motorists and crews from the Missouri Department of Transportation. Also, all ramps between U.S. Route 36 and Highland Avenue will remain closed for the same duration.  During the week-long closure, MoDOT bridge inspection crews will conduct an under-bridge inspection and local signal and lighting crews will complete necessary repairs.  All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change. Motorists encouraged to utilize U.S. Route 36 and I-29 during the closure.  MoDOT asks drivers to work with us by always buckling up, keeping your phone down, slowing down and moving over in work zones. Know before you go and check what work zones you might encounter at traveler.modot.org.
