The Scorpions‘ Down Under tour with Whitesnake has been sidetracked because frontman Klaus Meine underwent an operation to remove a kidney stone.
In a message posted on The Scorpions’ official website, Meine explains that after the band played “a fantastic show” on Wednesday night at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia, he had “a very painful [kidney stone] attack” and had surgery in Melbourne Hospital, where doctors “removed the stone, and put in a stent.”
The operation has forced The Scorpions to postpone their show this past Saturday in Sydney and cancel a concert Monday in Brisbane, Australia.
The Sydney concert has been rescheduled for this Wednesday, February 26.
In a message posted on the Scorpions’ official Facebook page earlier on Monday, Meine writes, “Dear Fans, looks like I’m on my way to Sydney tomorrow…it would mean the world to me if we finally could play the Show on Wednesday night…I feel still a bit beaten up, but Dr. Katz said…you can do it my friend…Let’s Rock it Sydney.”
The note is accompanied by a photo of the singer smiling and flashing a peace sign while standing next to his doctor.
With the Sydney show being moved to Wednesdsay, The Scorpions and Whitesnake have been forced to cancel a concert in Auckland, New Zealand that was slated to take place on Thursday, February 27.
The next joint show on the bands’ itinerary is a March 1 performance in Indonesia.
As previously reported, The Scorpions will be heading to the U.S. in July to play a Las Vegas residency at Zappos Theatre at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.
