WIU Student Newspaper Wins Two ICPA Awards

 

The Western Courier, the student-run newspaper at Western Illinois University, won two awards at the Illinois College Press Association convention in Chicago Saturday.

Courier Editor-In-Chief Devon Greene and former News Editor Steven Barnum won honorable mention for best news story. The Western Courier sports staff won honorable mention for best sports page design.

Winning entries were chosen by a panel of journalists.

"I am proud of the editors and staff at the Western Courier who continue to strive and produce award-winning journalism," said Broadcasting and Journalism Instructor and Courier Adviser Will Buss. "The level of quality they provide is a tremendous asset to the campus and community they cover."
